A debut epic fantasy from Bramble, released this January, built around a sibling who dies repeatedly and a family surviving on the edge of starvation. The scale is genuinely epic: political stakes, an intricately built world, real cosmological weight. The stakes are also unusually intimate, centered on one family's specific, repeated grief rather than an abstracted threat to the realm. That combination, found-family pressure carried at epic scope, is not common, and it is the exact register that readers who want scale without losing emotional specificity tend to ask for.
